MMEL - I'm BACK!

Move More and Eat Less (this is the group name that my Aunt Kathy came up with. I think it is creative and totally encapsulates what I want to do with my life.)

This is my new motto. I have been offline for awhile because life got crazy. My grandma Aileen passed away and just all sorts of busy-ness in life. However, I am still determined to get on a path of changing my lifestyle. And well . . . Excuses are just excuses. They don't help us reach our goals, they just remind us why we haven't reached them yet.

Recently I started recording my calories every day. Staying under 1500 calories a day. It has been good. It is forcing me to watch portions and make decisions, rather just being so extreme. This is a good skill for me to learn because in the past I get too extreme with my diet and I can't maintain what I started. But just writing down what I eat, forces me to be aware but also allows me to realize that if I want to eat some M&Ms at the movies, then I better be sure to only get a salad at dinner and no alcohol. AND . . . Only eat half the pack of M&Ms. Did you know that the bag of peanut M&Ms at the movie theater has 500 calories in it?!?!?! Incredible. That is a meal and a snack all in one. Yeesh.

Anyway . . . This week I add the exercise portion. I will exercise 30 minutes, 4 times a week. After a month I will try and add something new to my routine, but for now, it is just baby steps. I want to do something that will last!! But, establishing patterns and habits is half the battle for me.

Well, my little brother-in-law was in town this week and there was soooooo many opportunities to eat YUMMY things! But, I did it. I made good choices, recorded everyday and made it one whole week. Tomorrow I weigh in . . . So we'll see how it goes.

Last Weight
272.6

P.S. I obviously fell off the wagon a few weeks ago, but I am back on it and I feel more and more determined to lose this weight and get in shape. You know the only true defeat is felt when we give up on what we believe in most.
